Though his nervous system was rudimentary at best, it was quite astounding. Despite her body was that of an artificial construct ,the texture and density of her hands were quite convincing.
Remarkable, thought Gabriel... That technology could have advanced this far...
He pondered on this a moment before replying to Marisa's inquiry:
"Thus far I've not been able to explore the remainder of the Asylum's grounds. I am guessing this must be attributed to the lack of a suitable escort. However, would you be willing to ask your superiors to act as my escort should I be allowed out? I would feel much safer around others if you were there to intervene."

Marisa thought for a few seconds on what he was saying and asking of her...but she nodded. It made sense, what he was saying. She could understand somewhat where he was coming from.
"Of course...I wouldn't mind that at all. Would need to give you a way to contact me so that I may meet up with you of course...but I don't think that will be an issue. Better to ask and make sure, however. No use in us getting in trouble for assumptions, right? I'll ask the higher ups about all this stuff, don't worry."
She smiled before walking towards the door, pausing before leaving.
"Anything else, or should I go ahead and go find out about these things? I'm sure you're eager to have a bit longer a leash than being confined to this one room...I would imagine it would get pretty boring, pretty quick without the tools for artmaking..."
"Take as much time as you need. I'm in no rush. Not to mention I'm sure you'd like to make your rounds to get to know the other individuals who have been brought here as well."
Not able to quite control his face, he attempted an awkwardly goofy mimic of a smile that made him look rather predatory opposed to friendly. Not quite his intent, but it'll have to do until he could remember how to smile with his different facial configurations.

She couldn't help but pause upon seeing his attempt at a smile...but this was followed by a small giggle. It wasn't really that scary...he looked kinda silly when he did that. She waved as she thought a moment, then went back and grabbed the container she had forgotten to grab before she went back and opened the door, speaking as she left.
"All right then...I'll be back when it's time for your next meal, hopefully with some responses."
With that, she would begin heading back to the surveillance area. She hoped they would accomodate Gabriel...he seemed fairly tame, quite polite, and rather nice all around. He even turned himself in to protect others...that was an honorable action that she could respect. Surely, that should earn him a little something in the way of privelages? After several moments of walking, she would arrive back at the survelliance center, and set the container back where it originally was.
"Job's finished...and provided you weren't listening in the entire time, there are some things I need to speak to you about on his behalf in the way of privelages."
She would assume her position of leaning off to the side with her hand on her hip once more as she waited to see if they perhaps were eavesdropping or not. Wouldn't surprise her...and it honestly wouldn't really bother her, honestly. She just needed to know if they heard everything or not.
"Yes...let's allow him some paints." The man grumbled as he turned to face Marissa, "We'll keep in in observation. You will be our direct link to him." He turned back to face the monitors, "We are counting on you to supervise him at all times and report any troubles immedietly. Since it is extremely risky to bring him in contact with others, his time out of his cell will be limited to the less busy areas at a given time." The man handed Marisa a time sheet, "these are the times and places he would be allowed. Remember that he must be brought back to his cell before he gets hungry." With that, he sent the hunter on her way.

Marisa nodded slightly when she heard what they had to say, and took the time sheet. While it wasn't the art material he really wanted, he'd have to make do with what he got. Maybe later on he would be able to do the sculpturing he wanted to.
"Very well, then...I'll make sure he's watched carefully, then. You needn't worry, I'll make the reports as they're needed or requested."
She then turned and headed back to her room...it was about time for her daily maintenance routine anyhow. She continued studying the time sheet as she walked...it looked like he was allowed most anywhere that any rank 3 mutant could go. The only real condition is that he be there only when the least amount of mutants usually were around. So courtyard in early morning or in the evening times, the school from late afternoon to evening classes, and visiting with any friends he might make at various intervels during the day...if he so chose to do so. Of course, he needed her as an escort in ALL of these cases. Seemed reasonable...as she reached her room, she unlocked the door and closed it behind her, and soon the slight whirring of machinery could be heard...
*Time skip for five and a half hours later*
Back at Gabriel's cell again, Marisa held a case identical to the one she had carried before...in fact, it might even BE the same case as before. She wasn't sure on that matter. Regardless, it was time to step back into Gabriel's cell. She also had the time sheet with her, so he could look over it himself if he wished. As she opened the door and stepped in, she spoke. She also made sure the door closed behind her.
"Hello, Gabriel...got some more food for you, as well as some answers. I'll go ahead and give you the former before the latter, though."
With that she walked over to the corner where his food was usually placed, and dumped the organic mass onto the ground. As she had last time, she flinched when she saw it...though, her reaction wasn't as bad as last time. She then stepped back and set the container on the ground before speaking once more.
"So...what are you more curious about, getting out of your living space and seeing more of the asylum, or the answers to your art inquiries?"
(OOC: Changed Accessory during maintanence: Analytic Scanner)
The familiar sound of the door's hiss awoke Gabriel from his 'sleep'. The density of cells over his nictitating membranes went from opaque to transparent.
Still lying down on the floor, Gabriel looked at Marisa upside-down as she strode past and dumped the contents of her container into the trough.
Feeling a tinge of hunger creeping up his body, instinctively he rolled over and crawled towards the corner and once again subsumed the mass of organic nutrients in a blink of an eye.
His hunger sated, he stood up to meet Marisa's eye level before speaking:
"I guess we'll start with the privileges and access I have around the Asylum. As my artistic pursuits may be limited by access to supplies and venues to work in."
His eyes glistened a vibrant sapphire blue...

Marisa nodded as she passed over the timesheet that she had brought.
"Well...as you can see as written on there, the main areas you'll have access to are the courtyard, the school, and wherever any of your friends wind up having been placed. The time frames will need to be when these places are the least busy, to minimize risk of anyone being harmed...and of course, you will be escorted by me at all times. So...in short, late afternoon and evening classes are open to you, and the courtyard is available for you to go into in the early morning and evening. I must add though, that I am required to make sure you return to this room by your next feeding time. You can visit any friends you make at intermittent times during the day...also, I'll try to see if I can get you a means to contact me soon."
She then paused to see what his reaction to this was before continuing.
"As for the art supplies...well, good news and bad news. The good news is, you will be provided with some...the bad news is, it's not the kind you want...they'll give you some paints to work with is my understanding. I hope that is satisfactory to some degree, at least..."
Gabriel's eyes slowly reverted to their amethyst violet as Marisa explained the restrictions on his ability to move about the Asylum. As he had anticipated, she would be mandatory in escorting him around the facility. That was a pleasant arrangement as Marisa's presence was... soothing? Hmm, that should suffice in defining it. But yes having her present to intervene was a calming thought.
As for the art supplies:
"I am grateful for anything the Asylum can provide me. And thank you for going through the trouble helping me sort this out. Out of curiosity, would you like me to paint something for you as a token of my appreciation?"
Post by Marisa Lorette Anduin on Aug 15, 2011 22:58:01 GMT -5
Marisa smiled a little when he offered to paint her something...she hadn't been expecting that. He seemed to be happy to have anything at all, really. She nodded in response.
"I'd love that, Gabriel...as I mentioned, I am very much an art enthusiast, so I'd be quite happy to see what your style is like. Though, I am curious...is there anywhere you'd care to explore right now? It's close enough to evening several areas will be less crowded by now, so now would be a good time to explore if you so desired...and as you just ate, you'll be set for a bit before your next scheduled feeding."
She waited for his response before saying or doing anything else. She had to wonder what else may interest him other than art? Ah, well...she'd probably find out, depending on what classes he decided to go for, if any.
Gabriel pondered a bit on where he'd like to visit first. Though considering he didn't quite know where to begin, he thought it best to leave it up to Marisa to decide.
"Well in that case, lead the way Marisa. I shall go where you go."
Once again he attempted to smile, trying as hard as he could to remember what a sincere smile would look like on his gaunt face. The jaws he almost never moved twitched and quivered, making his face tremble as if he were about to burst out laughing or cry. Either way this was not what he intended...
His eye's flickered from a sky-blue teal to white...

Marisa nodded...but paused and giggled a bit with how his jaw and face was acting. That looked kinda funny.
"You ok there, Gabriel?"
She'd wait for a response before starting to head out the door...he'd probably enjoy the courtyard a bit more, or so she figured. So she lead him in that direction.
"I'll show you the courtyard first, I suppose...it's likely empty, or nearly so, by now. Most prisoners end up turning in around now...or at least, become more solitary. It should still be a nice change of scenery from the dull grey stone walls."
After a few moments, they would reach the guards in charge of the courtyard entrance. She'd nod once to them, and they would nod in return and then open the door. Marisa would then lead Gabriel into the courtyard, with its grass, trees, small swimming area, basketball court....and mesh wire covering over the top to prevent escapes.
"Well...this is the courtyard. It's about as close to nature as any prisoner's ever going to get, unless they manage to bust out of the asylum. Not many prisoners are out at night or early morning...if any at all. So those are the main times you're clear to come and chill here. You may meet a few prisoners...as some actually do end up coming here during the night. They aren't many in number, though..."
She then stepped back and allowed Gabriel to explore the courtyard at his leisure...and of course, she'd answer any questions he might have.
The sun had already set and the courtyard was practically doused in shadows with only a few lights illuminating the playing courts and facility entrances and exits.
Gabriel's eyes went pitch black as a result of dilating his pupils fully to see into the darkness...
As an evening gust rustle past, he tightened the bandages across his body to conserve heat loss.
Evening and pre-sunrise he thought. Though these times were in fact ideal for avoiding contact with other organic individuals, it also meant Gabriel would be exposed to lower temperatures, not to mention the lack of lighting should he choose to sketch or paint in the darkness...
Regardless, this was a massive improvement from his cell and its rustic gray walls.
Striding over to one of the trees surrounding the courtyard, he knelt and picked up a fallen branch. Fortunately for him it hadn't been exposed to the elements or decay for too long. The thickness of this branch was as great as that of his arm, it was probably lost as a result of another individual exercising their powers against the tree...
Turning to Marisa, he inquired:
"Do you think the asylum personnel would have qualms about me picking up materials that I happen to encounter for use in my artistic pursuits?"
As he held the branch with his hands he was actually eating away the phloem cells of the bark, revealing the smooth inner xylem cells of the wood, and polishing it clean of blemishes on a cellular level...

Marisa watched as Gabriel walked over to a tree...she was curious as to what he was doing with the branch he picked up. She couldn't really see the remodeling he was doing with it as it was due to the distance. She shrugged in response to his question.
"To be honest, I doubt they care...with the attitude of some of these guards and such, they probably just see it as one less thing they need to do. I honestly encourage it...as I would love to see your artwork as much as I bet you would love to make it."
She'd give him an encouraging smile...though she was unsure as to whether he could see it or not. She had to wonder, with how he acted earlier with his bandages...did the cold bother him? She wasn't entirely sure how his powers worked and such, so she had to wonder if he was a little like a reptile when it came to heat and cold...
As another gust of wind raked Gabriel's form with its biting cold, he drew his bandages even tighter. Perhaps he should wear a denser layer the next time he pays a visit out in the open...
"It is a tad cold out here, perhaps there is a warmer venue we could explore?"
Rolling over the branch, Gabriel continued to de-bark in preparation...
