Marisa nodded as they turned a corner...a couple of guards who were loitering around gave her...and the bundle of robe-wrapped fur in her arms, a weird look...but said nothing, just as she ignored them. She just kept walking, replying to Fox as if those guards didn't even exist.
"Did you, now? That's good to hear...I hate seeing anyone alone and sad. At least you have a few people to play with, then. Glad to know you're not alone...I myself am a new transfer to this facility. Only arrived a couple days ago...so I can't say I know a whole lot of people. Mainly have only met a few of the other employees, yourself, and another mutant, who seems to be a really nice guy. He's interesting, and I'm looking forward to getting to know him a bit better. You, though...you're just an adorable little sweetheart from what I can tell so far, and I'm quite happy I ran across you today."
As she got to talking about how she viewed Fox, she would switch back to scratching behind the ears again. Of course, if he ever seemed disappointed in where she was petting him, she'd just switch back to the previous spot.
Fox seemed quite content to simply let Marisa carry him around the facility. He did take a moment to stick his tongue out at one of the guards as they passed by, feeling somewhat brave at the moment. The guards pretended not to notice, which was just as well. "Well you're the first person that works here that I think is worth knowing. Everyone else is either mean, or just ignores me. I prefer when the people working here just ignore me...well except you. You're nice." Fox licked Marisa on the cheek again to show that he meant what he said. Of course her calling him an 'adorable little sweetheart' was a good way to get on his good side too.
"Maybe I can meet that prisoner you spoke of... if you get along with him then he's probably nice." Fox added murring the entire time that Marisa continued to scratch him. He was really enjoying all the attention from Marisa, as even though he'd made friends recently he always seemed crave some companionship.

Marisa sighed a bit when Fox spoke of how the other employees treated him. She shook her head sadly before speaking in a disappointed tone.
"Sadly...I must agree with you. Most of the people who work for this company don't really care about the mutants...but people like me..."
She then quickly, but silently thought in the back of her mind, "if there even are any others like me..." before continuing without there really being a pause in her speech.
"...realize that mutants are people too. They have feelings, emotions, thoughts, hopes and dreams, fears, and everything else that humans have. They just look and act different than humans is all...doesn't make them things of any sort. Sadly though, the human race is, mostly, full of people who fear the unknown, and label everything different than they as 'unnatural' or some other such stupid thing..."
She did smile a bit though when he told her she was nice.
"Oh, I try to be, sweetie...I prefer to avoid violence when possible. I'd rather negotiate...but some circumstances don't allow for that option. You have no idea how often I've ended up defending the prisoners against abusive guards and scientists...it furstrates them to no end, but they've invested heavily enough into me that letting me go isn't the best of options. So they have to deal with me standing up for what I believe is right....and that certainly isn't allowing for that sort of behavior."
He then mentioned possibly meeting with Gabriel. She stayed silent for a moment before speaking.
"Perhaps...we'll have to see. You wouldn't be able to make contact with him like you could me or anyone else though...for your own safety. I'm pretty much the only person I know...or even that the corporation knows, to my knowledge...that can safely touch him in any way, shape, or form. He is nice though...and I get along with most reasonable people. As I said though, we'll have to see...kind of waiting to see what kind of privalages he will have, as he is about as new here as I am."
Fox tilted his head to the side when Marisa started talking about the mutants in the asylum. Everyone always assumed that he was one too, but that simply wasn't the case. "But I'm not a mutant... I'm a kitsune just like my parents." Fox said a quiet tone, not sure if that really made any difference at all. It seemed like humans just didn't like anything or anyone that was different from their standards.
It seemed the prisoner that Marisa had met was a rather new arrival, and sort of dangerous. It confused Fox as to why no one could touch the fellow except Marisa. "How come you can touch the new prisoner but no one else? Is he really that dangerous? Do you have something special about you too?" Fox was just a fuzzy little bundle of questions at the moment, curious about Marisa. He already considered her a friend, and had said more to her than every other employee he'd met put together.

She felt bad when she heard what he quietly said...she wasn't quite sure what a kitsune was, but apparantly it wasn't the same thing as what everyone else in here was. She rubbed one of his ears gently as she spoke in an apologetic tone.
"I'm so sorry, Fox...I didn't know that anything other than mutants got put in places like this. I didn't mean to offend or hurt you by talking the way I was. Though, I also have to admit...I'm not quite sure what a kitsune is. You could say you're my first encounter with one..."
She paused as he asked what was different and why she could. She sighed and stopped, setting him gently on the ground as she took a step back and, just as she had done for Gabriel, folded back the synthetic skin at the joint of her jawline, right next to the neck. The end result was that if Fox looked, he would see a rather complex and intricate machine beneath this. As she placed the skin back, it melded back together once more, the fold now invisible once again.
"I can touch him because I'm not made of flesh and bone...so yes. You could say there is something special about me...if you're disturbed I can understand...not everyone is used to seeing a machine in human guise. Everyone else...well. I'll explain that part later on, perhaps...I'll ask him about this whole thing and see how he reacts."
She then waited to see how he'd react to her revealing her true nature. Most people weren't really disturbed by it, but she had known a few that would cringe away from her, or even run screaming. She hoped Fox didn't do that.
Fox wasn't really sure how to describe what a kitsune was to someone unfamiliar with his kind. To most he just seemed like a foxy bipedal creature with lots of tails, but it wasn't quite that simple. It was like asking a human to describe what a human was, which was to say it was complicated to sum up. Before he could form his thoughts into words however, Marisa decided to show Fox why she was special. Fox sat right where she placed him, his three large tails wagging happily.
Then Marisa pulled back part of her face's skin, showing the machinery beneath the surface. Fox's eyes went wide at that, but his tails kept wagging. He could tell from the hesitant way she revealed her true nature that she might be a bit self conscious, but Fox really didn't care how she looked. She was nice to him and genuinely seemed to care about him, that was much more important than any looks to him. Fox hopped up as soon as her face was back in place and hugged her again. "I don't care how you look or what you are, you're still nice and I still like you."

She was a little surprised when he hugged her as soon as she placed her skin back in place, but she hugged him back. She gave him a small smile before speaking again.
"I'm glad to hear it...if only everyone on the planet felt the way you did. Then we wouldn't need all this stuff that's going on, including where we are now...you really are such a sweetheart, Fox. I don't see how anyone could want to hurt you, truthfully...especially if they took the time to get to know you for who you are, and not go by the fact that you're not like humans."
She then gently stroked the fur on top of his head for the moment. It was always nice to meet the prisoners that were really nice...she had hardly been here and had found a couple already, it seemed. She was glad for this, as a lot of the hunters frequently rubbed her the wrong way. At least in her previous workplace. She was practially the only employee, save for maybe a few that she didn't know about, that didn't hate the mutants there.
Marisa was the first employee at the asylum that he could ever recall genuinely liking. Maybe the fact that she wasn't like the other humans helped her see things from a new perspective, or perhaps she was just a nice person in general. The reason didn't matter to Fox though, as he was simply happy having a new friend. His tails continued to wag as she pet him on the head.
"Can you pick me up again? I...I rather liked that..." His face was growing warm now, which was his equivalent of blushing. While it was a little embarrassing to admit it out loud it wasn't so embarrassing that he wouldn't ask. Fox even looked up and made his best 'sad puppy eyes' look to attempt to get what he wanted. While it never really seemed to work on the other personnel of the asylum he had a feeling that it might work on Marisa.

O...kay....that was just TOO cute when he did the puppy eyes thing. Marisa couldn't help but let out a small "squee" noise as she quickly scooped Fox back up, scratching him behind the ears again. The adorable ones almost always had her wrapped around their finger when they did stuff like that. It was a weakness of hers, and it had backfired on her more than once...but she couldn't help it. She LOVED anything that was cute.
"D'aww...you're just way too adorable for your own good when you make those eyes, Fox."
She then continued walking, wondering something...she decided to go ahead and ask.
"Hey, Fox...mind if I ask what was up with the samurai and the shield earlier? It was kinda weird to see all that stuff...like it came out of nowhere, and also vanished into thin air."
Fox grinned when Marisa let out her little squeal and scooped him back up. His pink tongue was sticking out just a tiny bit, completing the 'cute puppy' image without him even really meaning to do so. He was just happy to be back up in her arms and having his ears scratched just the way he liked. His ears flicked toward her when she started asking about the samurai and the shield. He didn't mind telling her what he knew though, since he really didn't understand his powers all that well himself.
"Well... I'm not really sure. But when I get scared enough I can just kind of make things appear by thinking about them. I don't know why, it's just sort of a reflex. I didn't mean to hurt anyone, but I was frightened and didn't want them to hurt me." Fox's ears drooped sadly as he recalled that he had killed a few humans today. Even though he couldn't control it, he was still responsible for their deaths. Humans already had such short lives, it was a terrible shame to cut them short.

As marisa listened, she nodded slightly in understanding. So he could pretty much conjure up whatever he thought of, it seemed...no wonder they kept him out of the school and library, they didn't want him learning too much. Which meant TV and a lot of books were out of the question, too. She frowned a bit when his ears drooped.
"Aww, sweetie...it's all right. You're ok now. I don't know what they were planning on doing, but it's better that you're safe now, and not on whatever table with what they were planning on happening."
She scratched the side of his face, as she had done earlier as she spoke. Marisa hated seeing any of the prisoners feeling low, for any reason. She knew she couldn't help them all...but she tried to help where she could. This was no exception. She didn't want Fox to feel down in the dumps or frightened over what happened earlier.
"There's nothing wrong with relying on your instincts, Fox...it's how any species survives. You were doing what you needed to, and that's that...no need to feel too bad about it, all right?"
She actually found herself kind of wishing she still had her organic body...her mechanical one, while it did not allow her to feel pain, also did not allow her to feel other sensations...like the grass beneath bare feet, the feel of an animal's fur on her hand, the wind blowing in her face...not to mention the various smells, and tastes of things...all were sensations she would never be able to feel again. At least she could still see and hear things...she wasn't sure how she'd be able to cope with not being able to see art and the cute things in the world and listen to the better musics in life.
Fox still felt bad about killing the guards earlier, but what Marisa was saying did help him feel a little bit better. He nodded his head in understanding before nuzzling his cheek against her hand some more. Even though Fox now knew why Marisa smelled different from other humans, that she was in fact mostly machine, he didn't know that she lacked the ability to feel his fur.
"Yeah... I was just protecting myself. If I knew how to control my powers more I might have been able to keep from hurting anyone though. Still, it's not like I can even practice that though thanks to those stupid rings on my tails." Fox crossed his arms then and pouted a little. He hadn't even bothered to ask about having his rings removed since learning what they did from Liadon, as he was pretty sure what the answer would be.
"I don't see why they want to experiment anyway... I'd answer their questions if they just bothered to ask." Fox added with a cute little huff.

Marisa listened as Fox spoke, still making sure to pet him as she walked. He seemed to be unhappy about the inhibitors that many prisoners ended up wearing...not that she really blamed him. She figured she'd feel the same in his shoes...she sighed before speaking softly.
"Oh, I know, sweetie...shackles of any kind are never pleasant. They place them on the prisoners that can be affected by them to keep everyone safe though...or rather, that's the reason they give. Personally I feel it's more about control...but you didn't hear that from me. As for why they don't ask questions...well. They have some twisted minds in the science department...minds that will ask questions that no one would be able to answer unless they tested their theories firsthand. This never really goes well for the test subjects, in most cases...I try to stop what I can, but..."
She sighed heavily and shook her head. She didn't bother to complete the sentance...not like saying it would change anything. Instead she changed the subject.
"Anyway...where is your living space, anyhow? Not that I'm in any rush to take you back...just curious, more than anything."
"Well my room is in cell block 6-15-24... at least that's what I think the number is. Anyway, it's better than some of the rooms I've seen the other prisoners have. I have a door and not bars... oh I also have carpet for most of my room too. I even have a my own private bathroom." Fox seemed to fluff up proudly about having that much. While it wasn't much to a normal person, it was actually quite a lot for a prisoner that didn't make any money of their own. Really Fox had been given that much to try and keep him content enough that he wouldn't do something drastic.
"My friend Liadon lives in the room across the hall from mine... though I haven't been in there yet since he hasn't invited me in." Fox added, enjoying his conversation with Marisa. He was like a little kid with how excited he could get over the most trivial things. "Oh where do you live Marisa? Do you have a room here in this place or do you have a home outside?" His eyes literally shone with excitement as he blurted out his questions, the foxfires that floated about them both glowing just a tiny bit more brightly.

She couldn't help but giggle a little at how excitable Fox could get over little things. No wonder he was adorable...he was still a kid at heart. That was rare to find in the Asylum...even the kids usually didn't act as such at times.
"It sounds like you have a nice setup, then. He may not have just yet, but perhaps he has a reason for not inviting you in? Maybe his room is messy...or else he may think he wouldn't do well in keeping you entertained. It's hard to say, I haven't met Liadon yet."
She laughed a little with his blurted out questions before responding.
"Oh, I have a room here, all right...but I don't think you'd find it very interesting. It's mainly just got some art in it, and a...well, it's like a bench, but it's where I do my version of sleeping, you could say. It's basically where I recharge and get some daily maintanence work done....so it's a very important piece of machinery for me...but other than those things, it's kind of bare, really."
Some patrolling guards gave them a funny look identical to earlier...but again, Marisa ignored them. They wouldn't start trouble...they seemed to know who she was, at least. She giggled a little in reaction to how Fox was currently acting before speaking again.
"Anything else you'd like to ask? You look like you're chock full of questions right now, Fox."
